Newburgh Beach, Aberdeenshire at sunrise January 2020
Painting by Jane Bradford in a gold floating frame made at The Cottack Workshop
Which inspired another frame...
A single piece of building lumber found on the beach having floated in the Ythan River, possibly for some time. Cut in the 'golden ratio' for picture framing.
Spalting or water staining gives the wood a unique grain. Light sanding and removal of square section on the table saw.
There was not enough wood to make mitre joints and still fit the painting - so butt joints and trim to fit.
The joints are screwed and glued. Plugs to cover the screws made from offcuts of the same wood, contrasting grain chosen.
